Alterations website with a seam-allowance calculator

A garment can be let out by the seam allowance, doubled. The site teaches how to measure it at home and computes the verdict from the customer's figure rather than its own table.

Description

A seamstress's website that teaches the customer to measure the seam first

"Can it be let out?" is asked in an alterations workshop every day, and the answer is always the same: by exactly as much as the seam allowance holds, doubled — because there are two side seams. Usually that means three centimetres around, two in denim, and in overlocked jersey nothing at all. This site builds everything from that one number: it teaches how to measure the allowance at home in four steps with an ordinary ruler, then lets you check the verdict with a slider. The mechanism applies two entirely different rules depending on direction — letting out is limited by the fabric, taking in by the cut, and for shortening or a zip replacement the circumference is irrelevant, so the slider is greyed out rather than pretending to matter. There are three states, not two, because between yes and no lies a real band where the alteration is possible but dearer and visible; hiding it would be convenient and dishonest. The form goes one step further: if the customer supplies their own measured allowance, the server calculates from that figure rather than from a category average — their garment is truer than any table, and that is why the site teaches the measurement at all. The look comes from pattern paper: dashed lines, the same ones that mark a cutting line, frame the cards, the selectors and the verdict panel. The privacy policy carries a sentence found nowhere else: the workshop does not ask for body measurements and never will, because the calculator asks about a garment, not about a person.

Questions before you buy

What exactly do I get for the price?

A working website under your own domain, with a .pl domain and hosting for the first year included, SSL and a contact form. With deployment we replace the demo content with your details (name, address, phone, services, pricing, photos, logo), set up Google Maps and basic SEO, and you get 30 days of support after launch. In the basic version you fill in the content yourself. You always get a VAT invoice.

How long does it take?

Three working days from receiving your materials. You fill in a short form after payment (name, address, texts, photos, logo). Most launches happen faster.

What happens after the first year?

Hosting and the domain are included for 12 months. After that you can extend hosting with us for another year or move the website anywhere you like: it is yours, with no lock-in and no subscription.

Can I edit the website myself later?

Yes. The website is plain HTML/PHP with no CMS to break. Small text changes we do for free within the support period; later you can edit files yourself or order changes from us.
