Eight stains across six fabrics, recalculated in full whenever the stain-age slider moves. Below the threshold the site refuses, and explains why trying would do more harm than the stain.
The trade prefers to take everything in, have a go, and report that it couldn't be done — the customer pays for the cleaning and gets a garment worse than the one they brought, because a bleached ring and a worn thread outlast any wine stain. This site refuses at the counter, and shows the figure. At its heart is a matrix of eight stains across six fabrics, recalculated in full every time the stain-age slider moves: fresh red wine on cotton is eighty-eight per cent and "we'll take it"; the same wine on silk is fifty-seven per cent and "we won't touch it", because the refusal threshold differs by material and on silk most of the risk falls on the fabric rather than the stain. After a week the cotton figure drops to sixty-four; after a month five per cent remains, enough to lighten the mark and no more. Stain parameters live in the row headers and fabric parameters in the column headers, so there is no second copy of the data in JavaScript — adding a stain in one file widens the matrix by itself. The enquiry form computes the verdict server-side and tags the subject line with the percentage, adding a warning when the customer says the item has already been washed, because then the whole calculation restarts lower. The look is a table: hairline rules, no shadows or gradients, the three verdict colours confined to the matrix and the panel beside it, and the percentage set larger than any heading — because that number is the offer. What stays manual is the real turnaround time, dated beside the figure.
